Help _ Hen or Roo? _ Five 6 Week Old Cuckoo Marans_ (POST SPLIT UP FOR EASE OF SEXING)

My best bets are either poorly bred barred Plymouth rocks or a barred rock cross. I don’t believe they are good/pure barred rocks due to the shading on the legs. I would guess the shading will reduce as they get bigger, so maybe they will have solid yellow legs when older, making them better quality.

I’m trying to think. Sorry, I realised after I wasn’t very helpful by not actually suggesting what it was rather than what it wasn’t. Let me have a think and I’ll respond again. Where are they from again?
The pink band is from rural king, the others are from tractor supply.

Based on a Google lens search, the first two that showed matches were Barred Plymouth Rock Chickens and Marans.

The one from rural king was in a bin labeled Cuckoo marans.
The ones from TSC... I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were wrong, simply because they were in a bin labeled midnight majesty marans. Which they obviously aren't those and I knew that pretty immediately.

Ha. Pure bred isn't really all the important to me.
I'm not breeding them, just getting eggs from them if they are pullets.
My current laying hens are a BYM so I'm not all that concerned with genetics.

As long as they are health, hardy chickens. I'm good with that. 🙂

That’s good then. I would be interested to know the colour of their eggs when they lay. If they are dark brown, they have marans blood in, but I doubt they will. Barred rocks are good layers and strong, healthy birds.

Midnight Majesty Marans males are Barred... Just saying, but they look like all pullets so that's probably not them.

@NatJ.. what's your thoughts?
The Midnight Majesty Marans do usually have feathered legs though. I suppose there are some that don't, just the majority I've seen do. Plus, like you said, they don't look like cockerels.

Is everyone still thinking everyone is a pullet?
I think the yellow Band is a Roo but I'm not positive.
They are do the rooster dancing, jumping thing, so idk.
I'm just trying to figure out how many pullets I have vs how many cockerels I'm going to need to rehome.

All pullets to me.

Barred rocks are a colour of Plymouth Rocks.
