Please I need help my bantams are eating my meat birds, we went out of town over the weekend and got home this afternoon. My stepfather had been tending the flock while I was gone and he said they where pecking them. But I never dreamed it was this bad. Mr. and Mrs. Rooster are injured bad especially Mrs. Rooster, I need top know if she can be saved or if I need to find someone who can put her down for me. Because while I love to eat chicken, I love my birds and I cant kill them myself. I am just devastated and so saddened please help me. I need to know what to do, I am so new to the whole raising backyard chicks and I don't want to lose her, but I also don't want her to suffer either.

I don't see your pictures, but it is true that chickens will cannibalize other chickens when they see a red peck mark or blood. That is why they need to be separated when this starts to happen.

that's the first thing I did was place a divider in the pin, but I need to know if they can be saved. I just posted them

First, put iodine in the wounds. This helps with infection. Secondly, buy this stuff that you spray on chickens to now make the others peck. It is purple and it helps to not make others peck. Third, check the wounds very often. They don't need to be put down. How is their behavior?

Those wounds could be cleaned out with some weak betadine or hibiclens, and sprayed out with a kitchen hose to get out any bacteria deep inside. Then dry well and apply a plain antibiotic ointment such as Neosporin or Bacitracin. Since the wounds are deep, infection may be a problem, and antibiotic use with meat birds is controversial. PenicillinG for injection can be found at most feed stores. Aspirin 80 mg low dose can be given for pain twice a day. Is there any way that a rat or raccoon got into the coop?
