HELP ASAP!!

That sounds good. If it was in there for awhile it would be quite ripe when it comes out. I had a duck with a blockage from capillaria. I gave her a dollop of the fenbendazole paste and she passed the blockage which was a bunch of long grasses and pebbles and then the poop that came out afterward was horrendous and when I did a fecal it was loaded with capillaria eggs.

I get my french caths from ebay, they're cheaper than my vet and as far as the fenbendazole goes, I just use the paste because its easy just to smear on their tongue. You really can't overdose with fenbendazole unless you make a concerted effort to do so. I just generally give them a pea sized amount if its an individual chicken. If I'm doing my whole flock, I use the goat stuff but I don't get too stressed over the dosage.

I have some pics of tube feeding in my sig line and they show the trachea really well. Once you open your chickens mouth and see the difference between the trachea and the esophagus, its really easy to tube feed, you'll be gavaging everyone at the least sign of being off of their feed. Especially the fully grown birds, its like working under the hood of a Caddy in there. there is so much room to get the tube down. I've been gavaging a three day old silkie with a #6 and that's been a nightmarish thing to do. I'm going to try Kathy's crop needle method next time.

FYI, I use a size 18 french catheter *tube* on most of my chickens, not a crop needle, those were just the best videos I could find, lol.

I like this picture of the trachea:

The hole at the back of the tongue is the trachea - Nothing should ever go in there!

The little ones are really hard, lol! I don't know if this makes sense, but I cut off the end of the small tubes so that the only hole is at the bottom, not on the sides, them I melt the end with a lighter to make it smooth. I can take a picture of it if you want...

That's a really good idea. I was thinking of cutting off the end because its the applicator at the end that's just so big compared to the tube. I had to put the little one down anyway, it was having neurological issues that went beyond any mushy chick-ness. But would love to see a pic if you get a chance. Would you mind if i add some of your pics to my tutorial?

Sorry for your loss... I'll get you some pictures of my different tubes and what I use them for - My latest favorite is a size 30 french, that is big enough that wet crumbles will flow through it, lol. Please feel free to use any of my pictures.
