HELP! I just checked on my girls and seen that my pretty polish, Polly is bleeding and has lost a lot of tailfeathers. It appears as if the others are picking on her.
I put her inside the coop temporarily. What do I do next? Clean her somehow? I have a large dog crate I can put in the coop to keep her separated while she heals.
I'm heartbroken...
8 hens total, about 3 1/2 months old, all purchased at the same time at the same age (when they were chicks), plenty of indoor and outdoor space, lots of food and scraps given each day... I am not sure why this would happen.
Any advice on how to care for her now and prevent this in the future is appreciated.
THANK YOU!

Clean her up and disinfect the wound. Then put some pine tar on the spot where she was pecked. Chickens hate the taste and they will leave her alone.
