Hello, one of my chicks pipped around 35 hours ago, the membrane around the pip was looking pretty dry, so I decided help it get started zipping (which I have successfully done before) I noticed as I started to chick away the shell that the chick had pipped in the middle of the egg. I chipped more off near the air cell and saw very large veins, so I placed it back into the incubator. I just pulled it out again, about 10 hours later, and the veins are still very much there. I’m worried because it’s the last egg to hatch (it’s day 24) and I don’t want to miss my window to help. As of right now he is still breathing and chirping. Any help is appreciated :) Thabks!!

Remove the rest of the outer shell over the air cell, (just the outer shell) and moisten it with Vaseline or coconut oil, and check the blood vessels.
If they are light around the beak, stretch enough opening so that breathing is not hindered and wait for the vessels to diminish, keeping the membrane moist.

The area I’ve circled, just the outer shell.

End up like this, if the membrane is clear enough. Otherwise leave the inner membrane.
