Help! Cockerel caught in trap! *ASAP*

Pics
Tell Truce I know how he feels. I caught my finger in a rat trap once. Hurt so much I wanted to howl the moon out of the sky. My finger didn't break. It hurt less the second day, and not much the third day. You can give Truce aspirin for the pain. A baby aspirin right into his beak twice a day will make him feel better. Or you can drop an adult aspirin in his water.

The green is bruising, not gangrene. It will grow fainter as it heals. Truce will heal just fine. He's not going to die.

Thanks for the photos. It would be good to get some every day when possible.

The green is bruising, looks like it may have a bit of fluid. I would not pop it - leave it alone. Keep the wound covered in your ointment.

Cage him for a couple of days so he can heal - you mention him hopping and flying around. He's young and wants to be out, but give him a couple of days.

Bye 👋 Have a great night! I'll be praying for Truce! :hugs :hugs
Thank you so much :hugs
Yes, just leave him to rest in a crate.
Keep the wound clean and covered with the AB ointment.
Give it time...it's not going to heal fast.
Okay, thanks
Thank you for the tag!

Use antibiotic ointment like others mentioned earlier. If you haven't already, I'd recommend lightly wrapping the leg in some gauze just to keep him from pecking at it and to keep debris out.

He looks like he may have a bit of bruising, but I wouldn't worry too much! His leg should heal just fine! The blister is likely because of improper circulation while he was in the trap. It should go away on its own within a week or so.
Yes, his leg is wrapped in gauze. I'm glad it's only a bruise.
Since the foot is swollen and also bruised, I would confine him to a dog crate with food and water to force rest, or to a chicken sling chiar until it heals some. Clean the wound twice a day and apply Vetericyn or chlorhexidene. I think if you splint it now, while it is swollen, the tape or vet wrap might interfere with circulation.
Ok...

I will, thanks. :hugs Ok....I'll see if I have any baby aspirin. Thanks!

Okay, I'll try to get pictures later. Yeah, okay. Thx
I keep thinking about this.....he was very lucky it didn't snap his leg right in half.
Rat traps are pretty darn powerful, it must have hit it just 'right'.
His little leg got caught RIGHT between the TEETH of the trap!

I'm just worried because he has the leg lifted up to his body and his foot is curled up and he doesn't use it at all anymore. He just hops. The foot is warm though....

Got a pic of trap?

This is the exact one, just not my trap.
