Hi everyone!! Thanks again for your kind words and support.

So an update: Julia seems... fine? The bumps in her vent are still there and have neither shrunk nor grown, nor changed in any other way for that matter. The redness did go away for a while, though it looked red again when I closed up the girls for the night. But other than that she’s pretty much her usual self.

I’ve done a couple (3 at this point) Epsom salts baths, with a couple drops of dawn dish soap. Julia does not like the baths, but she does like getting dried off with the blowdryer. These are time consuming but they seem really beneficial, her comb and wattles are noticeably redder afterwards... and she likes getting a head start on treats afterwards.

I’ve also been treating with preparation H daily. She’s getting used to the routine, and at first it seemed to have a calming effect on her.

The mites are also completely gone, but this morning and tonight I noticed some dark brown wet gunk caked on like the smallish feathers around the funk. It’s NOT poop I don’t think. It has no odor. I’m wondering if it could possibly be from the Preparation H? Could it be early onset vent gleet from something unrelated? I checked the other girls and all their vents looked unremarkable. I’m gonna do some research.

So for now I’m gonna continue doing salts baths a couple times a week, and maybe cut the prep h back to every other day until I get the mystery gunk solved.
