Doesnt sound bad !!!!! I would be carful about the 2 you think are dead. Sometimes as the chick gets bigger and takes up a lot of the room inside it's harder to see movement !!!! Put a ? on it and check again !!!!!! Could you see movement in any of them ??

No I didn't look for movement, but I don't think I could have seen any with the candler I'm using. I'll try again with a brighter light bulb and make note of movement.

Thanks!

I have a Chick n Barn by Ware with 6 chickens Does anyone know if I can put some kind of light in there or is it too small? My girls have all decided to stop laying! The barn is 4x4x3.
Thanks

You should post that question in "coop and run design" I'm sure you will get many more answers that way !!

So whats going on today with the eggys ??

Thanks for asking!

Well, I was turning them today, and I dropped one, and it cracked a little bit. No leaking fluids, just a crack. So I sealed it over with wax, as I've read here. It was one I marked good, so we will see if it hatches or not. Other than that, the temp has been between 99 and 101, unless I've been turning them. I'm reading up on brooders, and I'm wondering how many chicks can I fit in a cat carrier? I'm also undecided on using medicated food or not.... I'm kinda into the organic thing a bit, but on the other hand, I don't want to loose them.

for you !!! Hopfully it will hatch and turn out to be a healthy chicky, Iv'e always been afraid to drop an egg so I "roll" them when I turn. As far as brooders go a tote/storage bin works good, you can even get the clear ones so you can see in to it... I like them b/c there easy to clean and you can wash them out !!! As far as food... I use the medicated, better safe than sorry. But I know some do like the organic, maybe use the medicated first just to be safe and then as they get a little older switch to non.

I would be hesitant to use a cat carrier as they really need a warm spot and a cooler spot to adjust their own temp. A lot of people use the totes, I couldn't because of cats, dogs, and kids. I have 4 makeshift brooders, see what else you have around the house that you could possibly use
