Any thoughts on what this little chick would be much appreciated lol. The chick is around 4 weeks old. Just trying to figure out breed and if itā€™s a pullet or rooster. Feathering is similar to other pullets I have that are the same age. The only difference really I can see with this one is the appearance of the comb and wattles. Behavior is also similar to others.

I have a few barred rocks that look like this I recently hatched Iā€™d say barred but breed Iā€™m not 100% on but mine that looks like this is a rooster. Based on the comb and wattles Iā€™d say rooster, but Iā€™ve only had chicks for a lil over a year.

Thank you for the response!
Iā€™ve been leaning also more toward rooster bc of the comb and wattles. Iā€™m just trying to figure out best I can the breed/mix to see if maybe this is a type that maybe matures quicker than others which would explain the comb and wattle dev. Or itā€™s just simply a rooster lol šŸ˜‚
One year I got 4 straight run polish chicks and I knew from day 1 I had two Roos and 2 hens. It was easy to tell by behavior and I think bc it was equal 2 and 2. The Roos tended to stay together and the 2 hens were always together and then pretty early on the Roos starting doing the chest bumping and such. They actually got a long well but I had a small flock so ended up rehoming them but they were better guarding my yard then my 75 lb guardian livestock mix dog lol.

Yes it does look a lot like my barred rocks but I jus hatched a few off a barred rock hen and a Dominique rooster and they still look a lot like barred rocks with a rose comb or Iā€™m not sure if it makes it a pea comb seeing as Barreds have single combs and Dominiqueā€™s have rose. Anyways ! Heā€™ll be handsome for sure !!

I have barred rock pullets and while this looks similar to them, the comb and wattles scream cockerel to me and Iā€™m pretty sure male barred rocks are double barred, which makes them more white than black. Maybe a barred mix cockerel? I have a 5 week old barred naked neck cockerel and your little chick looks really similar in coloring and comb. I attached a photo of him around 4 weeks old.

Just wanted to update on the chick i asked about earlier. Definitely a cockerel. He is already very much acting the part of protector/provider for his girls. Hoping he turns out to be a good one. I had a polish rooster once. that was hilarious but protected his girls well!
He is a Black Sex link I believe. He has blue coming in on his wing feathers which is looking pretty cool. Anyways just wanted to update heā€™s about 7 weeks now give or take a little.
