Help! Infected swollen leg [PIC GRAPHIC]

I wandered around the medicine chart, and the doxycycline is an option if the penicillin isn't. But far as i know a penicillin injection is still the fastest acting, which i still feel you need if this is a wound infection, because heat and swelling of that degree mean you need to act fast. She will act "normal" to keep her place in the flock, as flock mates could attack and kill her if they find out she's "sick". If you could separate her with another flock friend to keep her company in a smaller area she could avoid moving on her injury a bit. A friend would keep her from getting depressed and help the transition back into the flock when she is well again.

Just to be sure there is no "bumble" on the bottom of her foot? (looks like a bit of black pencil eraser)

Is the leg straight, or is it twisted a little? (sounds straight but had to ask)

Is she still pooping normal? Sometimes if there are changes you can use the "poop chart" to narrow down your diagnosis.

I pray for the best and hope others will chime in too.......

Thank you both! No bumble on the bottom of her foot, leg is still straight and she can straighten it and curl it up on her own and her poops are normal from what I have seen. I have her in a brooder type coop with another one of the hens that is sweet. I will keep you guys updated!

I will try my best to find a vet around me that would possibly see a chicken. In the meantime on hand antibiotic wise I have access to the following...

-Doxycycline
-SMZs

Would these two be a better alternative to the Duramycin?

Thank you so much for your help! I really do appreciate it

Are they SMZ with TMP? If so, I think that would work best, but if there is pus in there it does need to be lanced and removed... Think bumblefoot of the hock.

Sorry the delayed response, Thank you everyone!
This is her 4th day on the doxycycline. The only noticeable change I have seen is that it is not as hard. It is a tad softer than previous days. I will take another picture of it later on today when I soak it. Thank you guys again!
