That's because you take them out so fast that their feathers don't have time to darken upMy lot look like a bunch of roos.![]()
I bought them thinking they would be chocolate. That's before I knew that all marans weren't the same. They are a little darker than they look in that picture, but I rarely get anything over a 4. That being said, they are my favorite all around chicken. They lay a ton of eggs, have great dispositions, and are a great dual purpose birdAre the cuckoo marans eggs dark colored shells?

90% of people think that cuckoo marans lay chocolate eggs. They look so much like barred rocks that I think a lot of that has been crossed in to them over the years and the eggs lost their colors. I am getting my first eggs from my black coppers, and they are gorgeous, but that's a tough breed to work with. If you only want dark eggs, its no problem, but if you breed to SOP there are a lot of cullsLovely looking eggs... and now I don't feel so bad for asking, if you get that question alot. Beautiful birds, might be on my list to hatch some day. I like the black coppers too.
LOL That isn't even right! That's because you take them out so fast that their feathers don't have time to darken up
