help me with funny looking chicken search that my kids will love?

What do you mean anything frizzled? Frizzled chickens? LOL

This is great! thanks for all the ideas!
I have some speckled Sussex mixes that I hatched out in May. They are only 7 weeks so far... I have wyandotte and marans and welsummers, OE, EE, Crested CLB.
I have been googling images of the Polish OMG have to have one or two of these ladies!! Just can't find breeders in Ontario-- any ideas??
I have a friend who has silkies and another who can get me some D'Uccle chicks.

Will all of these odd ball type chickens just live contently with my flock? Do I need to house them differently? LMFAO

Frizzled Cochins! I forgot about those! They're so cool. Any bantams usually would be housed separately, but if your coop and run are quite large they can all live together fine. Just watch for bullying/pecking. You'll have to integrate the chicks around 10 weeks of course, and make sure you quarantine any new birds from your flock for at least 2 weeks.

Chickens with crests (Polish, Spitzhauben, etc.) and other uniquely feathered breeds tend to be the target of pecking, but unless you are looking into bantams, they shouldn't need to be housed separately.
Love the Russian Orloff!
Thanks, they are a great breed. Very cold hardy, too. :)

A lot of different looking chickens have been mentioned, all great options.

I'll add that Sultans and Crevecoeurs are also pretty unique. Somewhat rare but not super expensive from hatcheries. Sounds like all or most of your flock are large fowl so they'd be worth looking into if you didn't want to deal with different housing for bantams.

We're big cream legbar fans. Glad you've got them covered. And yes, frizzles are awesome although we don't have any. Yet.

It's amazing how many different varieties there are and the wide range of sizes, colors, unique features etc. Good luck with yours!

Get frizzled chickens! They will be the star of the show! Pic 1 is a polish frizzle, 2 is a anything frizzle, and 3 is a silky frizzle!

I'm searching for exceptionally funny, odd or quirky looking chickens with poofs on their heads etc...
Or something really striking about their colouring.
Like a spitzhauben or crested cream leg bar. Any one know of others? We already have EE and OE with muffs and beards.
Thanks
POLISH! Not only are they stunningly beautiful but they rock that head plumage and are bantams that come in lots of different color types. I know you’ll hear a lot about this breed on this thread but that’s because they really are a great breed! They are also good with kids and have a good temperament. You should really look into this breed if your looking for a quirky little bird. However, As they are bantams, you may not be able to to add them to your full sized flock, if you worry they will be picked on. At least 4 Polish chickens in the full sized flock would be okay in my opinion.
