Help!! My duck was attacked.

Glad to say she made it through the night. I went to the nearest feed store and the sold me nitrofurazone topical application for the wound. Is that good for her wound, as I drove home I wondered if he thought I said dog instead of duck....??

I remember reading someplace that nitrofurazone should not be used on wounds because it can cause delayed healing or something. For cleaning, you want to clean it with saline and chlorhexidine or saline and betadine. Then I think you could use something like Neosporin instead of nitrofurazone.

Should she try to bandage it or leave it open? I never know what to suggest on that.

I have seen others that have used nitrofurazone on duck wounds, but I have also seen that if you use it too much it can cause paralysis or nerve damage.

As long as the ducks inside you can probably leave the bandage off so the wound can get air to it.
