help my pigeon has a tummy ache

thanks for the reply. yeah I can give her probiotics. she is doing better ate and drank more today is separated. they do not live in a loft. they live in our barn and fly around freely outside it would be impossible to clean that hole barn. she is in a crate in the Same barn should I bring her inside? does her illness pose any threat to humans?
Glad she is better! I don't know of any threat to humans from pigeon diseases. Confining her while she is ill for close observation is a good idea. Whether in the house or the barn just make sure predators can't get at her.

oh no she's still and puffed up I hope she makes it she does not look good any more I gave her some herbs like black walnut and artamsia let me know if u have any advise

I haven't heard of giving any of what you mentioned. you don't want to overwhelm her. just stick with probiotics until you get a 4-1 pigeon treatment or an all in 1.

oh yeah thats true, but she did seem to have some trouble getting the food into her mouth even before we knew she was sick and quarantined her. also, @Weeg suggested giving her apple cider vinegar in water, but she did not drink so I gave it to her in a dropper, and then she looked so much better. So I think that really helped.:hmm:confused:😏🙄 maybe she was dehydrated from whatever she has.

If she isn’t eating, you can also try wetting down her food with some Gatorade and that will make us easier to eat. Make it like a mush for her, and leave that in her pen to eat. If she wasn’t eating well before you separated her, then can you look down her beak to see if there is anything that might make it hard to eat. Good luck, Avery

I do not suggest using Gatorade. Gatorade doesn't have the amount of electrolytes to be beneficial for birds, and is mostly way to much sugar, which is not good for them. Small amounts can, but not what Gatorade contains.

for cheap electrolytes, go to TSC and buy save-a-chick electrolytes. It is cheaper than Gatorade, with out the sugar and dye, which can work against the immune system.

Thank you for the feedback! I have seen that recommended, in a few other thread so I though I'de throw it out there. But other wise, you can jus tweet down her food with some water and either save a chick electrolytes or a little bit of apple cider vinegar. Not too much though, or she may not want to eat the food because of the taste. Keep up the good work, Avery
