Parrots are nothing like quail, you can’t compare those bumps.

I wouldn’t even put a hamster in a cage that small and barren. These are living, breathing animals, they’re not for fun or to collect. If you really love your two quail then you need to ask yourself what is best for them.
I would give the male back to the person you got him from and ask if you can have a female in return. Then figure out a way to get a bigger cage and make it more interesting for your two quail with sticks and things.

If you can’t do that, then quail are not for you. If you want a bird that is pretty but you can’t touch, then I would suggest looking into finches.

I’m not trying to be mean here... but if you care about your birds you will give them up. Your situation doesn’t allow you to adequately care for them. You’re “housing” them in hamster cages in a condo without considering the consequences of your actions.

Please find someone with adequate facilities for these animals and get a more suitable “pet” for your environment... a budgie or cockatiel perhaps? They are very intelligent and personable and more suited to your living situation.

A person in a bachelor suite apartment should not get a pair of Dalmatian puppies, Great Danes, Italian mastiffs, or Great Pyrenees . These birds are not in suitable living accommodations, and you’re not able to provide the male with enough females to keep the birds from injury in your current situation.

You have been told, you just don't like the answer. Get a bigger cage where they can be together with another 1-2 females. That will cost you what, $50 over their LIFETIME?

If you can't do that you should rehome the birds. This is sad and unfair to them. "I don't want to spend money" is not an acceptable reason to mistreat animals. You shouldn't have them then.

QUAIL ARE SOCIAL. IT IS CRUEL TO KEEP THEM ALONE. The female needs friends too.

List them on Craigslist and find them someone who will set them up properly.
