Help! My silkie hen got attacked!

I put sugar in her water and she drank it (with my help, she still won't tip her head backward), and I made her oatmeal and she had one little bit of it, then refused to eat more.
How long can a chicken go without eating? It's been over 24 hours since she's eaten last, but at least she's drinking a little bit.
She opened her eyes for the first time.
She pooped again, which is good, I don't want her to be constipated.

She can't sit up on her own. I I try to help her and all she'll do is flop over. She's just been laying on her side this whole time. She's so limp. What does it mean?
Is it just because she's injured or did she break something?

This morning she is the same as yesterday.
I don't know why this injury has caused her to not be able to eat, drink, or stand.

All she does is lay there all day. There really hasn't been much improvement.

At this point, I don't know if she's in pain or not.

Should I give her time or put her down?

I'm so sorry. It's really hard to know. You can force water her and maybe even consider force feeding her unsweetened way protein or something like that but if she does not seem to be improving at all, it's really up to you how far you want to push.

I'm sorry. /hugs

I'm totally at a loss on what to do for her, and I think her brain might be swelling, for her head is very swollen now and somewhat white.
I guess all I can do is wait and try to get her to drink water at the very least.

I'm so sorry, I hope she makes it. Did you try looking under the emergency links? Maybe there is something in there. Poor dear chicky. Hang in there.

Ok, it's been a couple days, so I guess I should give an update.

Good News:
She's still alive, and she has tons more energy.
She flaps around when I pick her up, and she has more control over her neck, while before all she could do is let it hang.
Her eyes are open a lot more, like she's actually alert, not lethargic like before.
She makes an effort to sit up, she doesn't like to lay on her side anymore. Phew.
Her head is less swollen, still pretty scabby though, and a little white in one area.

Bad News:
She still can't walk. She can flop herself on to her side and try to sit up, but she usually can't without my help.
I have to give her water, but luckily now she actually tilt her head back to drink it.
I have to hand feed her, and she refuses to eat anything except a couple pieces of a hard boiled egg.
And she only eats a few crumbles of that a day, little to nothing.

I know she's not dehydrated, I give her water constantly, but she hardly ever eats.
I don't know if she's starving or if she has no appetite.
She has a lot more energy, like she's ready to move around, but she's unable to.

Ugg. Bottom line: She's better, but not better.

im truly sorry that your hen is going through this accident. please continue to keep her in good, safe isolation away from the other for as long as her body is trying to heal. can you possibly take her to a local vet? I guess that isn't option b/c you would have done it by now., but if you sincerely want her to recover better, I think you should reach out to a vet who knows how to handle chicken.. I really don't think you should encourage her to stand up or walk around just yet. Have you tried to give her nutri-drench mixed in with water? Did you at least give her an antibiotic? I don't know how to help but i'll keep her in my prayer. I'm hoping someone here who has more experience in addressing wounded/ injured chicken will give you some feedbacks.

agreed about the antibiotic. After the shock wears off, you need to worry about infection overwhelming her. Keep supplementing her with sugar for energy and offer her food and keep her warm.

So glad to hear some progress. Yes, definetly give her an antibiotic and keep doing what you are doing. I would try too find some live worms to feed her. Perhaps she can't resist those? Not too many to start with though. Maybe just a few. Then see if she will eat soft fruit and bran. Maybe rice cereal? I imagine at this point she is very weak.

Of course, a vet is the best choice, but if not, then try whatever you can to get her to eat. I don't think she will overeat at this point. Small amounts, often. i wouldn't keep a light over her all the time either. A heating pad if need be, so she can sleep in the dark at night.

Please continue to keep us posted. I am really pulling for your little Silkie.
