I’ve had the brinsea eco glow turned on for the past hour and put my hand under. It doesn’t feel very warm? Is this normal?

I don't use an eco glow so check the instructions on yours to be sure but my titan heat plate is very warm to the touch but not hot enough to burn you. This is so that the chick's back can come into contact with the plate. I keep mine at a tilt so that it's lower in the back and slightly higher in the front so the chicks can more easily regulate their body heat. This will depend on what style legs your heat plate has but it could be that you just need to lower it slightly.

I had to dig up some old pictures since I don't have chicks at the moment but you can see what I'm talking about a bit better with these. They should be able to easily walk under the heat plate but tilting their head down to go under it and their back come in contact with the warmth. I advise checking the instructions for yours though because I know there are a couple of brands out there that are hotter.

Is there anything I can do to keep them occupied while I’m not there? I feel bad that they’ve not got a mum too keep them busy?
