Is there any air coming in or out of the wound? The yellow material almost looks like egg matter. If it smells bad, it may be an infection. The yellow matter could also be caseous or pus matter from somewhere, possibly the air sac or elsewhere. I think the lungs are located up next the the back. I think this probably requires vet care. I would use some Vetericyn spray on it for now. Perhaps someone else who has seen something similar will chime in.
