Did you ever take a sample to your work to look at under the microscope?

No I've been on vacation for the last week. And the few doctors who have microscopes would have to bring them to work and I haven't been able ask them. If they come back or I see more clusters I plan on getting them to look at it.

I sent the pics and some of your text to Dr. Nick Tablante, in the University of Maryland's poultry division. If you see any more lesions or clusters, you may want to collect and freeze or fridge them.

It looks exactly like that orange fungus that grows on a couple of our tree stumps in our yard. But like other people said I’ve never actually seen it on anything other than wood. I would think some kind of fungal infection. Because that something that can spread I don’t know that ingrown can spread. But I’m definitely not a vet and I’m not sure what could be done about it if that is what it is. I hope somebody can figure out something soon before it gets worse keeping my fingers crossed for you
