Help!!! Orange Mystery clusters on my flock

Yes, I am interested. Do you mind if I share your pics and info with The University of Maryland? Maryland's Eastern Shore has a big poultry industry, too, so maybe UMD has seen this and can help.

Yes of course, feel free to.

I sent the pics and some of your text to Dr. Nick Tablante, in the University of Maryland's poultry division. If you see any more lesions or clusters, you may want to collect and freeze or fridge them.
Now we wait and see ... and keep our fingers crossed!
Dr. Tablante sent a long message and some attachments. Nothing decisive, but he provided a good contact for his colleague/counterpart at TX A&M. It was really long, so I sent it to your profile as a conversation.

It looks exactly like that orange fungus that grows on a couple of our tree stumps in our yard. But like other people said I’ve never actually seen it on anything other than wood. I would think some kind of fungal infection. Because that something that can spread I don’t know that ingrown can spread. But I’m definitely not a vet and I’m not sure what could be done about it if that is what it is. I hope somebody can figure out something soon before it gets worse keeping my fingers crossed for you
