I have two broiler hens only a couple of months old, just past point of lay. One of them has suddenly got paralysed legs, she can move everything else. She just can’t move her legs at all including supporting her own weight when held.
As a result she has become very docile and where she used to protest heavily against being caught She now letzt me Bath her and hold her without protesting at all, it’s really weird. Her poo is green and she seems to sleep a lot, and I think she has lost weight. What’s wrong with her? And can I treat it? Thanks

Hi, sorry your gal is having trouble. :(

If they are only a couple months old, they are net yet at point of lay and definitely not past it.

Sounds like you might be dealing with Marek's... IF it isn't just over weight broiler issues.

My best advice would be to cull... broilers weren't meant to live exceptionally long lives. They have body and health issues once they reach full size. You may be able to limit theses issues if you follow a diet...

You can try making a sling...

Good luck! :fl

They started Laying a couple of weeks ago and are fully grown, they’ve not eaten off their legs because their legs aren’t green and they are on the same diet as my other chickens if not less, because they have to sneak for their food. I don’t think it’s mareks because her eyes aren’t grey and apart from her legs she hasn’t got any of the other symptoms. Thanks for the help though.
