HELP please! My buff orpington is sick AGAIN

Dark brown stools can be significant of enteritis, but my goodness there is a lot of blood in her stool today. Enteritis also can cause bleeding. Do you have a vet in your area? Toltrazuril is a drug that can be used to treat resistant coccidiosis, but I don't know much about it.

OK, after an all day wild goose chase, I found some penicillin. It's injectable, though.... I found a previous post here with the dosage.. 0.25ml of the solution daily for four days, injected into the breast meat.

Wish me luck!

I'll keep you all posted....

OK, I just gave her an injection.. I'm not sure I did it right. It's supposed to be intramuscular, but I could see the white liquid under the skin after I was done. It was hard for me to locate a meaty part in the breast because she is young and skinny... Fingers crossed.

Most links I have seen recommend 4 days of penicillin if it is Procaine Penicillin G for IM use. The breast is the safest place to give it. Some use the thigh, but the there is danger of hitting a nerve. Be sure and pull back on the syringe to make sure you aren't in a vein, and stick the needle in a 1/2 inch to make sure you are in the muscle.. Always shake up the vial and bring to room temperature before injecting. Your dosage is fine.

Thank you. She is drinking and eating a little bit, which gives me some hope. She takes 4-5 bites of food and stops, but I guess that's better than nothing.

We'll see what tomorrow brings!

I checked on her this morning and she seems a little better. She still has a long ways to go, but she seems to be taking baby steps in the right direction. She ate a little bit of food. Poop still dark brown and with a bunch of what seems to be intestinal lining... I am trying to come up with high calorie foods I can feed by hand (she only seems to eat when I'm there)...

This are two I found this morning..

Last night I saw some dark brown with urates.

Should I put her back on CORID? That did help the first time, maybe she should have been treated for longer than 5 days?

I also have Wazine 17. Is that safe to use on her? How long do I need to discard eggs after using this?

Thanks..

That looks like blood to me, *not* intestinal lining. If she were mine I would worm her with Safeguard, not Wazine and start her on Baytril and Corid. Can you take her to a vet?
