Depends where it's coming from. If it's from the umbilicus it can be improper temps or humidity. If I remember right, these hatchlings are three days late which is a signifier temps have been off.
If it's from active veining then they hatching before ready.
Thank you.

Hug's about all I can offer at this point too. I'm useless at assisted hatches, I still have to get peeps to hold my hand through it. :hugs

They were late. They are at 100.8' now. Crazy chick knocked over the water. Can I open and refill? Will that affect the chicks? I am sure I need more.

Btw, 5/6 just pipped. I'm feeling overwhelmed.

Deep breath. Careful opening while there are pipped eggs in there - do you mean they knocked over the water for the humidity? Have a wet paper towel or two ready to toss in and go quick (yet steady).

Ok, so chickadee #1 is resting on the eggs like a boss. #2 no change #3 working his way out making lots of noise. And #4- just a pip

Best of Luck Ronie and thank you all for coming so quickly to help as I couldn't, no experience with hatching eggs. My phone died but thankfully was able to rally troops first. I will be charging and then checking back later for moral support as it's all I got in this situation.

They don't need drinking water in the incubator.

Yes - I thought you meant the chick somehow spilled your only water reservoir thing. If that was meant as drinking water for the chicks, they don't need it until you move them to the brooder, so leave the incubator shut, so you don't put the pipped eggs at risk.

And remember - sometimes things just don't work out, so don't wind yourself up too much worrying if it will put the other unhatched ones at risk. 100% hatches are not that common. If they are strong, they'll make it on their own (sometimes better than if we mess with them).

:hugs
