I have a hen who has lost feathers on the edges of her wings and she's got sunburn. (I have an apron on her back also)

I've not put anything on there just in case it could be unhealthy. Any ideas?

I've got titanium sunscreen that I use for my face. Its hypo allergenic. I'm just a little nervous about trying something that could be harmful.

You definately do NOT want to use anything that has any 'caine' drugs as an active ingredient. That would be like lidocaine found in Solarcaine products, etc.

That can be dangerous for chickens...

I'd try zinc oxide. You can find it sold with the diaper rash creams. We bought some for our kid when he got sunburned (try putting diaper cream on a teenager!

) Used it on a friend's kid when he got burned on a campfire.
It's safe and cheap.

Okay, so I've got a tube of sunscreen that is made from zinc oxide... and a little titanium oxide. It says extra gentle - no chemical sunscreen filters. Active ingredients: Titanium dioxide 10% and Zinc oxide 3% .

I'll give this one a try and see what happens. I keep a close eye out.

Stay tuned.
