HELP!! Posting avatar won't work!

Help!

I tried posting an avatar and it didn't work. I resized it to be 100 Pixels, and it still said it was too big! And when i tried to resize it to 90, it wouldn't let me open it! what is wrong??? I thought that it is supposed to be 100 pixels, but it said it was too big!!!

I found the post on frequently asked questions, and read about how to resize it, but that didn't work either!!!

mine would not work either.
but i figured out why.
it has to be a certain file size...i believe it says on the upload page?

Now i tried putting the size to 90, but it STILL said it is too large!!!

it doesn't say anything but that it can't be any larger than 100X100 pixels and (large number) KB. what in the world is wrong with it??

What are the properties of the pic (how many kb)?

I am not good with computers. I get confused easily with downloading stuff and making slide shows and everything. Me and computers don't go very well! So what can i do??? I really like the pic i found of a buff orp hen and i want it as my avatar.
