PLEASE HELP!
We have a Muscovy that was not due until Sunday. We couldn’t stop him from hatching and now he’s dragging around the bottom half of the shell that is still ATTACHED by some stringy material.
I know I should NEVER pull it off, but I’m a wreak and don’t know what to do!

We have 2 Pekins and 6 Muscovy’s. These eggs were together and the first hatched a week ago and is all yellow, not at all like our black and yellow Muscovy ducklings.
The duckling may be a Pekin/Muscovy cross, also known as a Mule Duck. The incubation time for Mule Ducks is 32 days.

I see nothing alarming in any of the pictures, so I think it will be fine.

I don't see anything alarming, just looks like hatching waste. Can't tell much from pics of duckling as not in focus but don't see anything I would be to worried about.
Thank you!!! 🩷
We didn’t think he was going to make it last night. He was limp and had very shallow breathing. So I held him to my chest all night and this morning he did a complete recovery ❤️‍🩹
He’s so active! Eating, drinking, running around and playing with his older brother/sister!!!!
Thank The Lord!
This morning we noticed our last egg has externally pipped and we are going to be surprised if it’s a “Mule” or a pure Muscovy!!
Our first baby was born a week ago and is a Pekin, the other egg in the nest on the same day is a Muscovy and hatched exactly a week after our Pekin hatched!
So I’m sure this new one is either a “Mule” or a Muscovy.. 🧐
I guess we will see, but of course I’m nervous come hatch time, as I’ve had some very difficult hatches with my Muscovy ducklings where I have had to intervene multiple times.
Here’s our newly pipped egg. 🥰

Did you buy the eggs or were they from your flock? Could they have possibly started developing before being put in the incubator?
If he seems to be ok, i wouldnt worry

I hope others can help.
It’s from our flock.

Our new baby is definitely a Muscovy but he hatched 4 days early and he was very big!
At first we didn’t think he was going to make it, he was limp with shallow breathing. So I held him on my chest all night and this morning he’s healthy as can be! He’s jumping, peeping, eating, drinking and running around with our other baby!! 🩷
Our last egg is starting to hatch now and we don’t know if it’s a “Mule” or a Muscovy. He make his first external pip overnight and is rocking his egg like crazy!
Thank you so much for your help and kindness!!

Ive had chicks hatch like this it will come off. If the umbilical cord is there after awhile it will dry out and sometimes you have to cut it off.

He’s a Muscovy and on day 32. He’s 3-4 days premature, but he’s BIG! I’m so worried that I think I’m going to leave work.
We thought he was a Pekin because the eggs were together, but our Pekin hatched on Friday is is yellow. This guy is definitely a Muscovy! Much longer incubation time!
Here’s our lil Pekin “Rose”

It just came off leaving goop inside the egg. Is that because he’s premature? I’m so worried!!

Here’s what his belly looks like. I know they are blurry but I’m at work and my husband is afraid to take him out of the incubator because he’s still wet.
I can’t see if his yolk sac is absorbed because he’s not getting good pictures!! Ugh!
It’s only day 32 for him.
I’m ready to leave work and speed home because I need to see if his yolk sac is absorbed and my hubby is nervous and doesn’t really know what an unabsorbed yolk sac looks like. I can’t get him to take a decent picture for me to see or to post!
