If you have any help, I would greatly appreciate it. My sweetest chicken, Beatrice, seems to have Prolapse Oviduct.
She didn't start laying for the season, then during the past couple of weeks she put out runny eggs (shell-less, or weak shelled) - maybe two or three in total.
Until Sunday she was eating and clucking and being as sweet as ever. Sunday she had runny egg down her backside. I trimmed the area feathers to reduce the mess and found that she has a fleshy protrusion.
I read may pages on BYC and other sources as well. My husband and I have cleaned her backside and reinserted the flesh, but within minutes she clenches and pushes it out again. She seems to think she needs to poop. Or when she poops it pushes the flesh back out.
Sunday night we tried a warm bath to relax her muscles, followed by lubricated gloved hands pushing the protrusion back in, then hemorrhoid cream.
Monday night we tried direct spray of warm water to dislodge material from the area, followed by honey covered gloved hand coating and pushing the protrusion back in. She didn't eat at all Monday except what I made her eat which was some yogurt and some ground calcium.
She is in a dark, quiet isolated room. Clearly she's in pain. She barely moves or clucks.
Please help!! I don't know what to do.

Beatrice is one of 3 gals who eat layer feed, black oil sunflower seeds (and wild bird seed mix), and oyster shell. Occasionally they get scratch. About once or twice a week they get table scraps (salad, bread, rice, etc). They are free to roam our back yard and eat grass, bugs, plant-based compost, etc.
