Help!! <Seller Replied>......is this dark enough?-PICS!- w/ link

I've had Cuckoo Marans for 6 years. Yes, they lighten up in color as their laying cycle goes on, but I've never had one of them lay an egg that light....ever. You are right to complain and seek a refund.

Ya I agree but those eggs are far from cream! But she didn't say that they were black copper Marans But if they advertised them as real dark then thats what they should have sent!

I know they aren't cream. Was just giving an example.

They aren't any darker than I'd find in the grocery store sold as dark eggs either, though.

I think a responsible Marans breeder would not send out light eggs period. Don't sell them when the laying cycle is lighter. This is why there are long waits for eggs. Sending out eggs lighter than a 4 gives buyers no way of knowing if the birds will ever be dark layers or not.

I think a responsible ebay seller would gladly refund your money irrespective of whether other buyers were happy or not.

This says alot about this seller.

I would say you have already contacted the seller and tried to reach an agreement. The seller has refused, and you are not obligated to go back and forth ad infinitum with this issue and seller. Time to contact Ebay and Paypal. You can get a lot better eggs locally. I will help you with that aspect if you want. In fact, there is a local seller that will incubate the eggs professionally for you for a huge sum of oh... $15. her eggs will be dark too. Promise, in Norco.

She is lying. I bought cuckoo marans eggs on ebay from her too. What she sent me was eggs that were smaller then golf balls. I imd her and told her I had gotten eggs the size of a banties and she told me that when you deal with the public there is always someone that will not be happy. I demanded a refund and she gave it to me i guess she was afraid i was coming after her. So you can use my name as it is the same I bought them under and tell her that you thought she said you were the only one to complain. Wrong I did and I got a refund. Demand it dont ask. What have you got to lose.

But she didn't say that they were black copper Marans

Regardless of the color of the adult bird it is still the color of the egg that dictates what is and what is not a Marans. The Standard calls for the eggs to be at least a number four. Period, or they are not considered Marans. There isn't one color chart for Black Copper eggs, and another one for all the other colors. Yes Black Coppers have a reputation for having the darkest eggs, but that is no excuse for people to say the other Marans shouldn't be laying eggs equally as dark.

I agree with Jamie. That sounds like a very good strategy.
You are not without options Bleenstar. Dissatisfied buyers can give these people grief and they know it.
But even if you do have to get nasty with her and it still doesn't produce the refund for you, at least you made sure she had to take her medicine.

The breeder that onthespot mentioned has really gorgeous Cuckoos, I have seen them and I have Black Coppers from her that I love.

Also, Tina (tfpets) on this site has Cuckoos that were laying very pretty eggs late in the season this year and she is super nice and totally ethical.

Just a note, I would say that because it's a picture with heavy flash, it would be hard to tell on here how dark they really are.

I hope it works out for you though.
