Help sexing 1 muscovy duck

Alright so, I found a friend. Wasn't exactly looking for one but I was at a local park that I go to every day and someone dumped this poor muscovy that appears to have a wing deformity or injury that prevents flight. It was all alone on its own part of the pond and I approached him, rather than swimming away he tried to walk away from me and I could just tell from his body language and the way he was acting that he was someone's pet. I was able to catch him very easily and I started putting him and he loved it and he showed no resistance to me carrying him back to my car and bringing him home. He's so sweet he loves being pet he will just sit on my lap for hours, and he doesn't poop on me he waits for me to put him on the ground.

Anyway he and penguin are getting along well but I don't know if he is a he i weighed and its only 4 lbs 6 oz, but im not sure if its a younger male or an older female. Its certainly got a thicker neck than my girl but they are roughly the same size the new one is about 1/2 lb heavier than penguin. The left wing has the primary flight feathers sticking out and they seem to be a bit misaligned. I am not sure if this is an injury, i think it may be a deformity because there is an entire flock of muscovies at a different park that all have a very similar deformity. Does this need a vet visit? I'm sure I will take him to the vet eventually but I would like to make sure I have enough money for all of the coop supplies that I still need. She doesn't seem to be hurt or bothered when I touch the fearhers or the area around them so I wanted to post it just to see if a vet visit is urgent. I'm in love with this duck already, but not sure if its a boy or girl so if you think you can tell the sex please comment. :)

It looks like a female to me with angel wing. It's mostly cosmetic. It's probably hatched this pass spring. That would be my guess.

So with the angel wing does that mean she will never fly? It seems like flight wouldn't be possible but idk when penguin flaps I can feel the air blowing and see everything in the room thats like paper or plastic moves a bit, but when the new girl flaps pretty much nothing happens

I agree, another girl and she has an agel wing. that is due to too much protein in their feed at the time when they grow wing feathers. she can mate and have normal offspring, it is not genetic. I have seen ducks with angel wings but have never seen them fly.

Hey ive got my coop all built, but just wondering what the best bedding for ducks is, and do chicken waterers work okay? I know a lot of them have a really shallow cup. Would it suffice for ducks? If not, what is the best waterer option for ducks for inside the coop?
