ok.i got some tylan 50 to treat my peacocks and chickens for coryza.i want it gone.well it says for cattle and swine.it also says 1cc for every 6.35 pounds of cow i think.what would the dosage be for peacocks and chickens.i dont have a scale so i cant weigh them but im sure you can help me.

i got another question.what if since the peacock has had coryza for about 5 days and hasnt eaten or drank anything i cant find any meat on his breast area to insert the needle.were else would be a good spot to give the injection.same with the chickens.

I would give him 1/2 cc into the back of his neck once a day for 3-5 days.. It all depends on who you talk to.. Just pinch a small bit of skin between his neck and back.. You don't have to go too far in but make sure you don't go through the skin to the other side.. Otherwise, he will just get wet...

I don't have a peacock, but if you are sure it hasn't been drinking anything then I think you need to hydrate it pretty quickly or that will kill it. Are there any vets there that will treat it? I know if other animals won't take fluids by mouth they can give it under the skin but I don't know if that works for fowl as well. Have you attempted to feed it/give it water or are you just leaving it alone? I think if it's that sick it's time you step in, quickly. Good luck.

This is outside my area, but maybe I can help get the discussion going. In addition to how much to give them and how to give it to them, what other questions do you have? Do you understand GreenGoddess direction or do you need clarification on some of her comments?

ETA - it sounds very scary to have sick birds. I hope they get better.

he is doing better.he actually felt like flying on top of the house.then he flew back down and layed under the coop.so hoppefully its working.:)

You can give the pea some canned dog food, cat food, scrambled egg - what ever you can get into him. I use baby parrot feeding formula that comes in a powder. It has a lot of good stuff in it. Are you sure it is Coryza that they have- very fowl smell coming from the nose. Yes the Tylan 50 or the La200 can be given behind the neck too. With tylan you can also drip some in the affected eye. remove any puss that accumulates over/in that eye. Baytril really works best but it is $$$ and can be hard to give to a large amount of fowl..... Make sure to separate your sick from your healthy as it can spread very quickly.
