I have a 4 week old black Silkie chick that I bought straight run at a day old. I know that they are very hard to sex and usually you’re not 100% sure if it’s a roo or pullet until it either crows or lays an egg BUT I would love your opinions on it! Her name is Birdie! She’s very sweet, loud, always stands up very tall, and is feathering slowly. I’ve just had a feeling it’s a roo and I’m new to the chicken world. The crest still has they down feathers but the middle part is now bald. These are pics of the chick right now at 4 weeks old. What do you guys think just by the pics? I’m hoping it is a pullet so I can keep it! Please let me know! Thanks!

There truly is no absolutely way to know. I had 5 silkie chicks and I suspected, like you, that the largest, most upright, take charge, talkative one was a roo, but ALL of them ended up being roos. My advice is to not get too attached (if you can't keep roosters).
