HELP something weird growing on my chickens

Dust them with Sevin 7% garden dust, you can find it at TSC or any big store like a Walmart in the garden section. It's a red bottle. You need to dust the birds with it, clean out their coop and dust that, and then repeat the process again in seven days since the Sevin only kills the adult lice and dusting again kills all the ones that have hatched since the first treatment.

Lice can damage feathers and they make the birds itchy and uncomfortable, so it's definitely worth treating.

This is the lice treatment.

Those are the eggs, not the lice. The lice will be in the feathers elsewhere. They are quick, but part their feathers quickly and you might see them scurrying away to hide.

They could also be mite eggs, and mites will actually live in the coop during the day and only get on the birds at night to feed, so while you see their eggs, you don't actually see them on the birds during the day. Treatment for mites is the same as lice.

is there a lice treatment

Since you live in Australia, permethrin will treat lice. Some people here use coconut oil to remove lice eggs from feathers.
BTW: Correction to the previous posts about sevin 7% garden dust...there's no such thing. It's sevin 5% dust. I doubt they sell it in Australia.

My bad! I was thinking 7 since the name is Sevin, lol. I have some of the darn stuff right in my cupboard, even and I swear I know it's 5%. That's what I get for posting in the middle of the night!
