Awww... thanks!

It is better tonight with the vinegar stuff cooking. I'm staying away from the back porch for a while (and when I say back porch I mean a window enclosed porch).

Skunks from Impland smell like roses. It's the Imps themselves that smell to high heaven.

Oh, I see you've smelled me, heavenly is right

Side note to Imp: I read your post to Keith. He wants to box up a skunk and send it to you, after he pounds on the box to get it nice and ticked off.

Good luck with that.

There were no skunks where I grew up. And have never came across one here. When I was in the 6th grade I brought home the class skunk for the Christmas break. Descented of course. That thing was mean. I was afraid of it. Dad had to hold it while I cleaned the cage as fast as I could. Mom said "Don't vounteer for the skunk again.

Imp"

Well, huh. I thought skunks were everywhere. Who knew?

The condo that I used to live in had an overabundance of the little suckers. There were times I would get stuck in the house because of wandering skunks. That condo was in the middle of a city and yet I had skunks, foxes, squirrels, bunnies, chipmunks and owls. The new place is in the middle of nowhere and aside from the coyotes off in the distance and the occasional possum I haven't seen any wildlife. I haven't seen any skunks at all. I occasionally smell them, but I haven't seen one out here. Clearly we found one last night though. Sigh.

Ahem... the CLEAN and FOLDED laundry that I hadn't put away yet.

That makes it a million times worse, now doesn't it?

SO much more than a million times worse...ugh...sooooooo sorry...it had to be the CLEAN and FOLDED laundry...of course it did...

While I am pretty immune to the smell of barnyard stuff, this aroma hit impossible heights. It was bitter and acrid and pretty much burnt out all my nose hairs. Imagine the normal skunk scent and then concentrate it. I'll take cow patty scent any old day over this. Ugg.

Burnt nose hair? That's pretty bad.

Poor you.

If the dogs faces stink here's what you do. Get a good ol regular douche. Put it on a cotton ball or small rag and wipe their faces down being careful not to get it in their eyes. Let it sit for a couple of minutes and wipe again with a damp cloth a couple times.

For the laundry I would put a couple of cups of vinegar in the wash and if there's a cycle that soaks use it. Then run though the wash cycle again with laundry soap and fabric softener. Hopefully that will do it.

Awesome! Thanks! Their faces are still stinky. The rest of them is not so bad. I'll go shopping and see if that works.

I'm tackling the laundry tonight. It's still pretty bad out there.

Hey....just courious as to how's the skunk smell doing......vanishing I hope!

To be honest, I don't really know. The house wasn't as bad as I thought it would be when I walked in last night. I did the boiling vinegar/cinnamon thing and that helped, but eventually I just quit smelling everything. I'll know more when I walk in the door tonight. I know the enclosed back porch/laundry room is still pretty rank. I can definitely smell it every time I go back there. The plan is to scrub down walls and floors with vinegar tonight and rewash all the laundry that is out there. Hopefully that will take the worst away. I've had the windows open all day to help it air out, plus have a pan full of baking soda and a bowl of vinegar out there. That space caught the brunt of it so it smells the worst.

I'll know more when I trek back through tonight.
