Help!!!! What is going on after treating for mites!!!!!

Okay, I just realized another problem that down know if it's causing this or not. I bought 8 oz of permethrin spray form amazon and didn't realize I was supposed to dilute it before spraying! I sprayed it strait on my birds! Could this be causing the problem! I am kinda freaking out because I am worried I have poisoned them or something! What can I do! Will they be okay! @Wyorp Rock @Eggcessive @casportpony

It absolutely could have caused chemical burns and thus the skin weeped causing the crust and probable infection.

Eggcessive gives good advice here.
Can you clean the wound with 1/2 strength Hibiclens or chlorhexine, and apply antibiotic ointment when dry?

If you cannot get Hibiclens/chlorhexidine, diluted betadine or just plain soap and water will work too.

Don't just pour it on and rinse. Get in there and gently scrub with a wash cloth. You don't need to bathe them, but just wash the affected areas.

After the affected areas are clean, pat dry them with a clean towel and apply a plain triple antibiotic ointment.

Repeat the last step every day to every other day.

You mentioned it is rather cold where you are. Do not put them outside even damp. You will need to blow dry them first.

Alright, but what about the grey film? I am mostly concerned because it smells rotten, I tried to upload a video, but I don't have a youtube amount and don't really want one. I though I found another way but It back fired.
I think just a good soak and cleaning to debride will correct the issue then blu-kote or triple antibiotic. If there was an infection going on you would get more of those yellow crusts forming to encapsulate it. Chicken do not ooze pus like humans do they just crust it over.

OMG! I totally panicked when I realized that I burned them! We just sprayed vetrycin on the affected areas for tonight, but we will do a wash tomorrow. I do have saline solution, just none of the other cleansers. Will saline work? I will just use soap if not. You don't even know how grateful I am that you responded so quickly, I was FREAKING out! Thank you so so so so so, much! I will update in the morning on how it goes! Thanks again! Avery

You can use saline to clean the wounds if that's all you have. I think I would trim some of the fluff and feathers away from there so you can see it better and it will stay a little cleaner.
Apply the Vetericyn or triple antibiotic ointment.

If it smells bad, then you want to check him really well to make sure maggots are not underneath the wings too.
Don't wrap those wounds and check them a couple of times a day.

Thank you everyone! We gave him a scrub with some soap, we didn't really scrub anything away because it seemed like it was hurting him, but we hair dried him, and applied neosporin to the chemical burned areas. We have been spraying with vetrycin the last few days and he doesn't smell anymore!:D the crust and goo is starting to go away on its own, thank yo use much for all the help, I will keep you posted. At last we know we got rid of all the mites right!:D I will certainly never do that again!

It looks like dead skin. If you can, try soaking them in a warm Epson salts bath to loosen it. It should come off when it’s softened.

Thank you, I actually do believe it is dead skin, because I did chemical burn them!🤦‍♀️ I have been spraying vetrycin which is softening it. I don't want to bathe them fully because las time it was 70 degrees and I gave them hypothermia and I don't want to have to recover them form that in 50 degree wether. They are getting hypothermia because they aren't fully recovered and so they can't regulate there body heat as well. Thank you! I really appreciate the feedback, Avery

I have just run into this! I'm worried I can't seem to find any help on this. I've never had so much trouble with my chickens but it really is one thing after another! I noticed this hen started walking around puffed up. I thought it might be cooler weather but I checked her and under her wings and there is a horrible smell! her vent is dry. I believe there must be mites but the lighting wasn't great. I have pyrethrin powder but I'm not sure its helped much.
