It could be. Vent gleet smells very unpleasant. It also is likely to infect the entire digestive tract. It's also conceivable that the swelling around the vent is from vent gleet. http://www.poultrydvm.com/condition/vent-gleet

Thank you! We just deworm if we know we have worms in one of our chickens. We do have Safeguard and Ivermectin on hand if the consensus is we should try deworming to see if that helps her. What do you think?I might be vent gleet or not.
When did you last deworm your flock and what exactly did you use for how long?
Worm infestations can cause diarrhea, nutrient and vitamin deficiency, lethargy and neurological symptoms, crop disorders, horribly smelling feces etc.
Bless you both, sorry for your loss, you done everything possible for her and made the best decision to stop her sufferingI'm sorry to have to give this update but she got much worse since this morning unfortunately (labored breathing, eyes closed, not able to stand, not eating/drinking). We decided to ease her of any suffering before it got worse.
We are both really sad as she was our favorite girl and had such a fun personality (and was obviously beautiful too). But thanks to you all we feel like we did everything we possibly could to help her and make her comfortable.
Thanks for all of your help + advice![]()
