Help with rescue chicken..breed and gender please.

Sadly, my guess would be he was an Easter or Spring chick that got dumped because he is a he rather than a lost rooster.

I just may have to put him in my chicken tractor until we can find him a new home... just to be sure he stays safe!

I'm happy to announce that "Madea" is now safe and sound in his temporary home, my chicken tractor. He has been talking nonstop to all my chickens, has been trying to get my girls to come eat his food, and has tried to fight with my rooster (and a few of my hens). He is a VERY handsome boy, and I think he'll make a great rooster to his very own flock of girls. Sure wish we could keep him.

Madea seemed to enjoy his field trip to Robin's brood this weekend for a sleep over and then on to his final destination. Lots of eye candy there for his pleasure. I do have to say the ride to work was a little lonely this morning because I did not have my boy to stop and give him breakfast and chat with him. Kinda became my moring routine. However I am very glad he is now in a safe place away form preditors. Thanks again Robin.

You are very welcome, I'm glad I could help him. He sure does want to get out of that tractor, he paces a lot. Makes me feel bad that he is in such a small place. But on the other hand, I feel better knowing he is safe from predators. Two of my youngest pullets are smitten with him. They stand by the tractor... I think they're hoping he will eventually be their man. Can't blame them, the other choice for a man is their father.

That is a Roo!!! not sure on breed.

Could be a black Orpington or a Jersey Giant. It looks like a roo to me.

Any more ideas on his breed? I'm leaning towards black plymouth rock because his legs are smutty yellow, like my barred rock's legs were when she was young. But who knows, he could just be a gorgeous mutt.
