Unfortunately some incubators just do not cut it these days, but with so many on the market it can be hard to choose. I would stick with what has been proven to work. HovaBator is a great and reliable brand, I would look into the 1602 (with a fan kit) or the newer 2370. Both of these are easy on the pocket book and easy to use. As far as incubation itself...research research research. You have to study and then put the time in, you learned this round and will learn more as you go. Thank you so much. This may sound a naive question but should I keep the eggs and ducklings in the incubator still if some have hatched and others have only pipped. What is the best way when handling the eggs after lockdown to check if everything is ok. I don’t want to ruin the humidity and temperature by lift the lid.

General rule of thumb for most is about 24 hours. I tend to wait up to 48 hours if the hatch is taking its sweet time, they will be fine in that time frame without food/water. I have had some issues with getting anxious and causing shrink wrapping that I then had to fix...not fun.

Hi again, we once again rescued some fertile eggs for the cold outside after some tragic events with the neighbours ducks. Is there any tips in ensuring humidity stays high during lock down and anyway to help the ducklings with out effecting the temperature and humidity. Also what temperature should it be when the ducklings hopefully hatch

im on day 28 and my 3 have been pipped for about 24 hours. they are either making new pips or nothing at all but are still moving but my one LARGE egg hasnt done anything and i was pretty sure over 24 hours ago she had internally pipped...my hands are twitching!
