This my first attempt at setting some eggs. My chicks that htched Easter weekend just started laying and I am wondering if I should wait before I set any of their eggs. I just want to start off by setting less than a dozen but my Mom says I need to wait almost a week and see how many I get. Any suggestions.

Here's what I have heard...the hen that you use for selecting hatching eggs should be at least 7-months old. She should be laying for at least a couple of weeks.

When you say set eggs....do you have a hen that is broody?

BTW WELCOME to the BYC forum!
