Cappy is braver than I am. I had numbing for my root canal.
Lotsa work with that snow. I hope you don't get dumped on again real soon.
I had a snow thrower once. A walk behind Gravely. It would blow the snow way up and over the power lines. then the magneto quit working and I never got it fixed. what I liked the best about the snow thrower, no snow banks..
snow is supposed to start here at any time, now. only 2" predicted.
Annie made coffee today. rare occasion. I can almost chew it..

I wanted and got numbing but it didn't work and they had no gas. It was horrible.

I found that our county didn't allow backyard chickens and set out to get the law changed. It took some time to get approval by eventually the law got changed.

Good on ya! :jumpy

Can you say 'Lake Effect'?
We got 5" yesterday('regular' storm)...then ~16" of lake effect overnight.
It's supposed to keep churning all morning, until the 30mph winds start up and fill the path I shoveled to coop. At least I got out there to feed and close upper windows.
Winds can still blow snow in thru upper eaves, was gonna fix that, but it didn't happen soon enough.
Still need to change over tractor from mow to throw. Sigh.
NOT what I wanted to do the day after a tooth extraction(whine),
luckily it doesn't feel too bad.

 Wow! Snow looks so picturesque but I'm glad we don't get it here. We don't get ready for winter. We get ready for summer :p

Hope your tooth area is feeling better Aart.

Whaaat!?! Why!?

Cold temps overnight did the trick...not one jam, tho a lot more back and forth cause it was so deep. I still have to dig out the chicken run....and clear the shed roofs so they don't collapse once it warms up again tomorrow...and..geez I'm tired..and sore.

That's a lot of work Aart. At least you will sleep well.

Cappy, how do you like your NEW dentist ??
we finally got about an inch of snow. too little to do any more than sweep the wheel chair ramp off.
today started at 21F and supposed to make it up to 30F. then a gradual warm up for the next week.. might even hit 40F.
Ollie was frozen up yesterday. Time to get the tranmission drained.
with these warmer temps, we are going to bag up some wood shavings from in the shop area.
that will go a long way toward the clean up needed out there..
Chili sounds good. My batches are always different. but none ever gets thrown out, so it must be good. Or else maybe the people here are super hungry ?
.....jiminwisc.......

DP doesn't like chili but I always make it mild hoping she'll give it a try. This time I made it to my own taste and with a couple cans of chilies so it's plenty hot. Had it with flour tortillas, cheddar cheese and sour cream yesterday, might add some chopped avocado today. I put a couple containers of it in the freezer, we'll see how long they stay there.

Boots, what you made was chili, what I make i call chili, It is not what the SW makes. Mine is the central midwest version.
One good thing about the cold weather. our refrigerator space is limitless. Big kettles with heavy lids go out onto the back porch.
It is colder out there than in the fridge.

Today I lit a fire in the wood burner in the shop. within a few minutes the bite was out of the air. Annie and I bagged up 4 large black contractor bags of wood shavings. Made a few piles of small kindling and one pile of sticks that have to be cut down to size to fit into the stove.
There are at least two more bags worth of shavings under the planer. I mainly wanted a path made so I could easily move stuff around.
there was a lot of coughing and sneezing going on.
I might take the seat and top cover off of the transmission case. I had it off years ago.
there are something like 26 bolts holding it in place. If I take it off, then I will be able to see if there is ice,,,and where it is formed.
remember , I said might.
it made it up to 27F today. with the stove going, I actually worked up a sweat..but work scares me so, I work up a sweat just thinking about it..

it is waaay to early to have snow banks like that..
like I said, my old Gravely blew the snow straight up over the high lines. probably 25 feet high ? when I directed the spout sideways, the snow landed well over 15 feet from the driveway. this is OK here because I own the land where the snow landed. If you have close neighbors, it think they might object..
Yes, with Ollie, my snow banks start way across the lawn. and way off of the driveway. My brother laughed at me .
Why do you plow your whole lawn ? after winter was well upon us, he saw why. the piles crept half way back across the lawn.
one year we had the township plow for us.
they came in with a V plow taller than the truck cab. made a wide swing, stopped just short of our door and backed up and left.
we had a pile of snow 9 feet tall right in front of the doorway. I had to chop a path through it so we could get out of the house from that door. (our main door). I used shovel and ax because wet snow freezes quickly.. that's when I decided to get my own plow.
.....jiminwisc.....
I had a guy plow a couple of years... the last snow of the year he piled the snow up against one of the garage doors.. The mower and air compressor were in that side and the car had a rim leak that had to be aired up regularly. Faced north too... so I came home from 16 hrs at work at 2 am and had to dig out . I bought a truck with a plow the next fall
