Helpful hints for building coops

I got most of the stuff I needed, but hit a deer on the way home. Luckily it was small, and I don't think my truck got damaged.

Did you pick it up and process? Usually a lot of it is fit to eat

we call that venison on the grill.
I have processed a few that either I hit or somebody else did.
We almost hit a nice buck on Wednesday., I don't know why they always wait to cross just as you are approaching..
I am not too thrilled with our outside temperatures. over a week of almost constant low to upper 30F's.. Too early for winter.
Yesterday we had snow thunder. snow on the ground, and snow falling with lightning and thunder.. WTH ??
I am happy to report that awning roof that we built on the garage is working just as I planned. No snow against the building and doors.. I will take a picture..
My latest project is to get the tachometer/ hour meter on Ollie working.
I might have to buy a new speedometer cable for it..

Was humid and 80f yesterday, but Wis weather was predicted to arrive today. So I winterized the coops yesterday. Was 67f this morning. Front is coming through now 56 and raining.
Still have to plant garlic. 4x20 to 25 ft row, depends on my back lol.

I never planted garlic. I use a lot of it, maybe I should learn how to plant it.
I am sure I could find a dedicated spot for it.
So, you plant it in the fall ?

I have planted garlic, with limited success. Scallions do great for me, onions hit/miss - but garlic? never.

Trying it in a container again. Fingers crossed. I did ginger that way last year, with a left over scrap from cooking, and its now broken through the side of my pots!

Plant in the fall, harvest in July.
It's pretty easy to grow.

Had a huge bed of garlic for 10-12 years.
Think this was my biggest crop ~180 heads in 2015.

I have planted garlic, with limited success.

Growing in FL would be much different than up here.

I had the same difficulties in Central TX, too. Drowned from seasonal storms, or burnt from the pounding sun and withering heat.

Yes after the killing frost and before the ground freezes. Hardneck garlic does better than soft neck in cold climates

Chesnok red
Silver white
Viola francese

Replants that did good last year
Extra hearty german
KETTLE RIVER GIANT
RED JANICE GARLIC
ITALIAN LATE GARLIC
and some other I can't find the name of.

Wow!!
I only ever grew german white, got my starter cloves from my brother, who grows like 500 head....or did before he just moved.
