Hen cant walk

Wow, thank you. I will order it tonight. Now in to work , 11pm -- 11am, night 7of 10 in a row.
Thanks for the help.

Hi. Love not doing quite so well today, not quite as perky today. We have been feeding scrambled eggs, plain greek yogurt with a small amount of chopped spinach. We also added vit b12. She ate well in am but at noon time only ate a little. Her crop was fairly full and squishy. She had passed a couple small mushy/watery poops. We held her food the rest of the day. Just a little while ago she passed a very large amount of mushy dark greenish poop and her crop still has some squishy stuff in it. We will give her scrambled egg and yogurt.

How long does it take for crop to empty?
Can she have chicken livers for iron?
How much adv? We put 3/4 tsp in quart of water.

Thanks for the help!

Emptying can differ depending on food content and bird itself. I would think in a few hours of not eating I would want to see a difference. Yes she can have chicken liver..but I'd grind it very fine. You may want to give a bit of antibiotic to her, and some yogurt to add back some good bacteria to her gut. Weight gain is slow and hard when they get down so thin. ... We just have to hope her organs don't start shutting down. You can give some sugar or Corn syrup to see if it gives her some energy.....

Well, after my post earlier I gave her an egg and some yogurt and she ate it all. Maybe I should just stick with that for a few days before adding anything more. I can try some tylan powder in her water if you think it will help. Should I stop the acv when giving antibiotics?

I would stop the ACV while doing the antibiotic.. But if you think the ACV is helping..then hold off on the antibiotic untill her food is moving better. Tylan is for respitory illness . Try penicillin, or peoples amoxicillin .... Stick to what ever works for her...

I think for right now I will continue the acv. I do believe it has helped her. Today she is eating the scrambled egg and yogurt and her appetite is good. She looked more alert today. I think I better stick with that for a few more days. She seems to be enjoying the heat lamp and her feet have been warm to the touch. I will be starting her on the baby bird formula soon. Thanks for all your help.

Hi. Love isn't doing so well today. She is eating the scrambled egg and yogurt but doesn't seem to be drinking much. We have added acv to her water but don't think it is doing much good for the little bit she drinks. I will try putting it in her food in am and see if we can get it in her that way.

Love still has terrible crop noises while and after eating. She doesn't seem to be pooping much, it is pudding consistency most if the time but having some very watery poops again. Her crop is tender when touched or massaged. I am thinking you are right about antibiotics. I had another hen with crop problems some time ago and the vet put her on baytril liquid and nystatin liquid, both tubed directly into the crop. Does this sound right? When I called that vet today for the dosage of Nystatin they had given me the tech looked it up and said it was 100,000 units per ml, giving 2cc once per day. I thought that sounded strong and confirmed it with her. I called my regular vet who is looking into whether or not they can get it for me. Can anyone tell me if that is the right dosage and if it should be given together with baytril? Thanks. This chicken is a fighter and would like to help her through this.
