Hen pecker

I have one hen who is obviously the "leader". She is quite friendly to me but can get very cranky near night. I go to the coop nightly to lock things up, shut the windows, check the water etc and she does not like this. The other hens are fine, is this normal? SHould I just ignore the behaviour. She pecked at my hand quite hard and had I not been wearing my work gloves I think I would have had a problem.

She is taking on a more male role as protector to the flock .. I would treat her like a roo that tries to get you .. When she is violent pick her up and carry her around .Keep doing this until she realizes you are the dominant roo

WOW!!!! that worked, once we did catch her she bit us like crazy. We just held her and pick her up when we can and she is soooo calm now. I was really worried about having her around kids but she has calmed down a lot now.
