Hen randomly just dies ** graphic pic**

So she's been laying for 1 1/2 weeks everyday and today she was singin then she was just a little lethargic and then I went to check on her and she was dead on the coop floor any ideas?????!? She's only like 4 1/2 months old too! I looked at her vent and I saw this anyone know what could have happened!?! She was perfectly fine this morning

Sorry for your loss! It looks like she had a prolapsed vent. She might have been egg bound, and strained too hard, or the stress of laying an egg was too much for her. Young birds that are just beginning to lay are especially susceptible to getting prolapsed vents or having other egg laying troubles.

Thank you for your response we thought it was something like that but we were sure it was just so random she was one of my first chickens too and my first layer ever....
