Hen to Tom Ratio

I got 6 turkey chicks from tractor supply and we think that there are 3 toms and 3 hens. is that a good ratio? They will be free-range turkeys.

1 tom to 10 hens is what's recommended. 3 toms to 3 hens is too much. You'll want to get rid of 2 of those toms asap.

If they are from Tractor Supply are most likely broad breasted turkeys which were not developed to reproduce naturally.

I have no idea why you think you know the sex of newly acquired poults. I don't know anyone other than Valley of the Moon Turkeys that sells sexed poults.

AI try to keep at least 5 hens for one of my heritage toms.
