What happened with that bird?Thank you, I just hope she will be okay. I was pretty sad when I lost my Rhode Island Red hen earlier this year, which was the last chicken I lost.
I think it was organ failure, probably heart failure. Her abdomen filled up with fluid, and her comb had turned dark and was getting hardly any circulation. She could barely breathe because of the fluid, so I drained it, and she died shortly after. What happened with that bird?
I'll try to get my Orpington in to see them soon.Perfect, so you have a vet!
It seems like the symptoms that my RIR had emerged pretty quickly, I don't think she really had any health problems before that. She was one of the first chickens I got, when I first got chickens in 2016.So sorry. I've had a few with water belly and causes have varied from defective heart valve (8 week old peachick necropsied at UCD), cancer, eyp, and salpingitis.
Yeah, had a couple like that too. Seemed fine one day, then bloated and having trouble breathing the next.It seems like the symptoms that my RIR had emerged pretty quickly, I don't think she really had any health problems before that. That's good news.I think her crop is mostly empty now, but I think there's still a little fluid. I think it's draining, but slowly.
Are you going to try a different feed?I think her crop is mostly empty now, but I think there's still a little fluid. I think it's draining, but slowly.
