Thank you, I just hope she will be okay. I was pretty sad when I lost my Rhode Island Red hen earlier this year, which was the last chicken I lost.

I think it was organ failure, probably heart failure. Her abdomen filled up with fluid, and her comb had turned dark and was getting hardly any circulation. She could barely breathe because of the fluid, so I drained it, and she died shortly after.
She was one of my favorite birds

So sorry. I've had a few with water belly and causes have varied from defective heart valve (8 week old peachick necropsied at UCD), to cancer, eyp, and salpingitis.

It seems like the symptoms that my RIR had emerged pretty quickly, I don't think she really had any health problems before that. She was one of the first chickens I got, when I first got chickens in 2016.

Yeah, had a couple like that too. Seemed fine one day, then bloated and having trouble breathing the next.

I think her crop is mostly empty now, but I think there's still a little fluid. I think it's draining, but slowly.
