Hens acting different

Ok, I am very new at this whole chicken thing so bear with me.

I have two 16 week old Cuckroo Marans and they are starting to lay on the ground and scratch on the ground like they are digging a hole. Is this a sign that egg laying is in the very near future?

When mine lie on the ground and scratch, they are preparing a dust bath. They will assume all sorts of awkward positions, throwing soil all over themselves, flopping a bit, and preening. When they get out, they will shake dirt and dust everywhere. This is normal; and quite entertaining to watch.

Thanks! Guess I am just eager for our first eggs. I love going to the coop and just watching them do silly things. Just have to learn what is all means.
