Here comes the FLOOD!

I completely understand why you live there. It would be my dream home. Secluded, no neighbors to worry about their dogs getting my flock. I could go outside straight from getting out of bed and not worry somebody will see me.

I hope the water doesn't get into your house. Along with no unwanted critters. Those dogs should warn you if it does happen. Stay safe. Make sure you don't tie you boat down on the stair rail. Tie it higher up in case the water rushes higher overnight. You want to be able to find your boat to get out if you have to. Wear your water wings to bed so you will just float and keep sleeping. Wrap a couple around the dogs too.

It's flooding around here too but I live on a hill and don't have to worry about it. I worry that if they keep blowing up the levee they will triger the New Madrid fault and cause that earthquake they say we'll have one day. That would add insult to injury. But it's suppose to help those that have flooding. I certinly hope it works. I don't know what we would do if we where faced with flooding.

I can see that.

Neat place.

I also wondered about where the dogs potty during flooding.

Praying your house stays dry and the floods recede. If I could turn off the rains here in Ohio that feed down into the Mississippi River, I sure would.

Interesting item for today is the water is now muddy. You will be able to see it in the next pics I post. This means the Mississippi waters have overpowered the Arkansas river waters, perhaps even backing up into the Arkansas river. Not near as pretty as the clear Arkansas river water. They are talking about the levee breaking, there are sands boiling in several places. The worst one seems to be near Lake Village, or close to the Greenville bridge. I guess we'll be blocking stuff up in the house, I'm not sure how, anything we use we'll have to haul in by boat. At least we won't have as many stairs to haul them up. A friend suggested we go hijack a barge off the mississippi and load it up, hmmm, I wonder if we could get away with it.

If the levee were to break, it would depend on where the break was how much time we would have to respond. Right now everyone is eying Lake Village where there is a sand boil. That might give us a chance, Some people say it would all go south and we wouldn't be affected much, I don't know.

I am unable to show this morning's pics cause DH left the camera at the clinic. The coming home pics are on my phone and I can't get them off. So I have one of "Beulah House" I took with my camera, but had to enhance it as it was already getting dark by the time we got home. This was taken about 7:45 tonight, May 5, 2011. Look at this pic then go back and look at one of the others. See the difference in the water? This is the Mississippi now instead of Arkansas River water. Actually the last pic in post 27 you can already see a little of the change in the water.

We have decided instead of trying to bring blocks in to raise stuff we will build saw horses (DH is recovering from back surgery and the blocks would be a little much. We can haul the 2x4 up 1 at a time if we have to.) Then we can raise everything up on the saw horses.
