Wow stay safe!

We always keep a ladder on the roof durring the flood. It sounds silly I bet but we have a few good reasons for it. The last time the water came up to our house we used the roof for a place to keep things from floating away for one and one year we had to use the ladder as a Bridge to get back and forth to our out building. Then there was the year we needed it to get down off of our roof when We were forced to climb up on the roof in the middle of the night to escape the flood water. We spent the night on the roof and in the morning the nieghbors boated over to us and we climbed down the ladder to their boat. So any time I hear of some one going through a flood I always advise them to put a ladder on the roof you just never know.

OK, to put into perspective.... (this is my mom's house and where I spent the last of my "childhood years").... This house is not "right on the river", by the road it is 8?ish miles, as the crow flies at least several miles. And there is 8 ish feet in the last pic of the "beulah house" and will soon be about 13. All this is spread out over give or take approx 10,000 acres of "conservation forest"...... SO if the levee breaks at any point we are talking millions upon millions of gallons of water gushing out of a (relatively) very small area of levee........ mass destruction. So pray that the levee doesnt break in a populated area and not in an area that people are not prepared for.

Some of my numbers may be a bit off from what is real right now (correct me mom), but end result will be the same

Heard today that the Lake Village, Arkansas hospital is shipping equipment out to protect it if the levee breaks. Their nursing home is moving residents to Monticello's nursing homes. The court houses in Arkansas City and Lake village are packing records. If the levee breaks at Lake Village, water is expected to be 5' at McGee, Arkansas. Its big talk around these parts today.

Jen lives in the delta area....well actually she lives inside the delta. We live about 30 miles away in the timberland area. Rolling hills. No mountains, just nice small hills. We have a lake in our duck pasture, but should be able to mow Saturday. Here in Monticello we are 292 feet above sea level.

Awww can't you take Cora with you?? Poor thing looks so forlorn! I do have to ask what you are putting up on sawhorses?? The stuff in the house I am assuming because the pics of the first little house the water is at least 5 foot high and not sure sawhorses are gonna help there. I would love to see your house when there is no water!!! I bet it looks pretty cool all raised up in the air! Good luck and praying that this is the worst of it and the levee doesn't break!

You know I have to ask too - Where are your cars??? What do you do with them if the water suddenly rises and you don't have time to get them out?
