Yesterday's trip in will probably be the last for a few days. I think DH is going to bring in the boat. The wonderful news is that I found the cat. He was hiding on a self in an outside closet where I keep my canned goods. He was glad to see me, but not so glad to be stuffed in a tote.
I don't want you all to think I am risking life and limb going out to the house, the current at most ends me up in the tree tops a couple of times before I can maneuver the boat around to get out into the "main channel". The house is well built up on bridge timbers and solid .
I also want to thank all of you that have offered help and condolences. However, in spite of everything, we have been very lucky in having a warning and having a place to go, and the means to recover. There are so many out there that had no warning or no place to go, and do not have the means to recover.
The purpose of this thread has been as much for me as it has been to share with you. One of the reasons I love this forum is the peek we get inside the lives of others and I wanted to offer the same. But in doing that I have also found that sharing the experience helps to put it in perspective, catalog and file it.
The water still has a couple of days rise to go, and then the long wait for the waters to abate. We are still watching closely the areas of leakage outside the levee. The National Guard and Game and Fish officers are patrolling the levees and watching for any new seeps or boils.
