Buffalo Gnats are so named because of the hump on their backs. A couple of my old threads from previous years have been resurrected. They cause big bumps on me, I can't imagine having hundreds of bites, which is what happens to the chickens.
Well, The water is dropping, officially it is down 2.8 feet. We have been in the house the last couple of days moving things, trying to get all the carpet torn up and out so the floors can dry. What's going to happen to the tile I laid a few years ago? It looks like most of the house got about 18 inches maybe, just at the level of the electrical outlets. The moisture and mold on the sheet rock walls is over three feet. The pecan tongue and groove in the living room is buckling.
To add injury to insult, Angel, one of the goats caught me offguard with a lunge toward the milk stand this morning and I fell and twisted my ankle. 800 mg of Ibuprofen and some rest later and I can walk again. I hope its just a minor sprain. Time will tell. We're getting so much milk I'm having trouble keeping up with it. With the work at Mosquito Beach House I don't seem to be able to fiind the time for the long awaited cheese making, so I have been making a lot of Vinegar Cheese, at least it takes up less room in the freezer than the milk. I gave some milk to my daughter, Buff Beauty, she is supposed to be making some soap, I hope to be able to try some out soon (hint, hint).
Here you can see the receding water line.
If you look close, you can see one of the 36" fans in the front door trying to dry out the house.
Water level in the hall, with blistered drywall.
On another note, saying prayers for all those in Joplin, MO, who suffered in last night's tornado.
